We have been involved in COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) from the very beginning. Our experienced team of consultants and engineers has been successfully preparing, maintaining, reviewing and revising COMAH Safety Reports since they were first introduced in 1999.
As you might expect, during that time we have successfully completed a large number of Safety Reports for a range of blue-chip companies - in fact we have and continue to support more than 20% of the UK's top tier COMAH sites.
We understand precisely what the Competent Authority requires of a COMAH Safety Report and its relevance to our clients' situations and needs. We are uniquely positioned to help deliver cost-effective solutions in response to the challenges presented by this modern risk-based legislation.
Services we offer include notification and application for Hazardous Substances Planning Consent; Risk Assessment; preparation of the Safety Report; and ongoing support during the intervention process.
Scoping Studies
We can provide templates, management services, guidance and peer review services. Alternatively we can prepare the entire Safety Report, committing as little client resource as practicable, whilst still producing documentation which is a true reflection of the establishment.
HAZID and Consequence Modelling
The Hazard Identification (HAZID) and screening methodologies we use are well established and can be used to generate a document that provides a detailed hazard profile for any given site. Our experts are also able to analyse the consequences of chemical releases using a series of process hazard analysis software tools.
MATTE Reviews
Our experienced environmental consultants can help to address the assessment of potential incidents through Major Accident Hazard Identification which may lead to a Major Accident to the Environment (MATTE) and consider the issues arising from the clean-up and environmental recovery of such incidents.
Emergency Planning
Our team's experience in the process industries and thorough knowledge of good practice guidelines makes HFL Risk Services the ideal choice to develop coherent Emergency Response plans.
COMAH Hot Topics
Our dedicated team of engineers and consultants are fully conversant with the latest COMAH 'Hot Topics' and can advise of their relevance to your own company and situation.
Five-year Reviews
It is a legal requirement that COMAH Safety Reports are reviewed when changes are made on site, or at least every five years. We offer a swift, yet thorough, assessment of changes which have occurred since the last Report was prepared and, using our unique in-house auditing and assessment tools, we are able to offer recommendations on how best to update the Safety Report.
